Newlyweds Jacqui and Jamie tied the knot amoungst the scenic natural landscape in Lorne on the Great Ocean Road. Beautifully aligned with their theme of ‘Scandi-Coastal’, Jacqui wore her Ascension Gown by Suzanne Harward.
As featured on Ivory Tribe.
The Great Ocean Road is heavenly, so it was only natural that Jacqui and Jamie would use it as the backdrop for their lovely Lorne wedding celebration.
Creating their own theme ‘Scandi Coastal’ this couple kept things simple, natural and let their surrounds do the talking.
An epic walk to Erskine Falls not only ensured they have breathtaking photos they will treasure forever, but it allowed them a chance to take a breath, connect and enjoy some alone time as newlyweds with their very own lens legend, Erin Ronald.
In Jacqui’s words…
The meeting.
We met in Melbourne through a mutual friend on Grand Final night in 2011. Seeing we both where from the Warrnambool we found it pretty amazing that our paths had not crossed before.
The ‘one’.
Pretty early on we knew that we were onto something good. Great dates over great food and a mutual love of Grand Designs was the early indicators of this!
The proposal.
On an early morning beach walk in Moggs Creek Jamie asked the question. It was very intimate, but the most memorable moment was when our dog Claude fell into a rock pool soon after.
The process.
We found that it ran very hot and cold…one minute it was a frantic (perhaps the bride was just this way) rush to book in all the vendors and then a waiting game until the months grew closer. We worked with amazing vendors that kept us in the loop and offered great expertise to help with the big build up.
Style inspiration.
Scandi coastal (if that is even a thing)? We tried to bring out the native colours in our styling as well. As it was a destination wedding we also wanted our guests to feel relaxed and included all weekend.
The gown.
The moment I stepped into Suzanne Harward I had the ‘all the feels’. The old tale you hear is true, my gown was the last dress I tried on and not my choice either. I instantly fell in love with the details and texture of the fabric and how it confident it made me feel. When I looked up and saw Mum and Dad get teary I knew it was the one.
It was amazing to be involved in the whole process of the gown and I floated out after my final fitting. Without a doubt the most divine (and comfortable) dress I will ever wear.
Favourite moments.
We simply loved exchanging vows and getting married in front of our loved ones!
Also our couple shots with Eric at Erskine Falls. It was an amazing chance for us to take time out and connect. It helped take the tension out of the day as we helped each other climb logs and over rocks.
Wedding soundtrack.
Aisle: Jacqui’s cousin Matthew piped us in to the tune of Highland Cathedral.
First dance: Wonder of You by Elvis
Funny stories (or near disasters).
Our celebrant had a ‘sat nav’ drama and was 1.5 hrs late to the wedding…Jacqui was just about to get in the car when she found out! Thank goodness that Eric (our photographer) was there to pull us together and whisk us away to an impromptu couple’s shoot.
Planning surprises.
No matter how regimented your planning is something might go wrong. You just have to take it as it comes and enjoy your day…nobody but you will notice something out of place.
Words of wisdom.
Meet up with all your vendors and get to know those who are helping you on the big day. Some of my favourite moments leading up to the wedding were these chats. It lets your suppliers know you and your aesthetic, and helps them nail what you exactly want for the big day.
Also go for a wedding website for RSVP’s- it makes organisation and communication with the guests a breeze.
Last words.
All of your friends and family are there to love and support you. No matter if your delayed or some drama pops up they will still be there waiting, happy and ready to celebrate you regardless. And man will they party hard!
