Suzanne Harward is a pioneer of Australian bridal couture who has been working with brides in Melbourne, Sydney, and across the world for over forty years.
We have an opening for a talented Bridal Couture Sample Sewing Machinist / Dressmaker to work from our studio in Collingwood.
You must be a competent machinist with full garment construction knowledge who is able to work with minimal supervision under the direction of our Studio Manager who has worked alongside Suzanne for the past 17 years. Working with high end imported fabrics, you will be part of a passionate production team creating iconic pieces of couture for Australia’s longest standing couture design house.
Ideal candidate should possess the following:
· A minimum of 5 years in high end couture garment construction within the fashion trade
· Proficient in industrial sewing machines
· Possess high attention to detail and exude high quality standards
· English conversation proficiency is a must
· Must work autonomously as well as within a team environment

As the successful candidate you will be a competent machinist with full garment construction knowledge who is able to work with minimal supervision under the direction of our Studio Manager who has worked alongside Suzanne for the past 17 years. You are self motivated and passionate about creating couture garments and possess impeccable attention to detail. The high quality standard of your work would impress even the most fussy perfectionist and this makes you beam with pride.
We are looking for someone who has an absolute and unwavering passion for high end fashion, that thrives in a results driven team environment.
Working with exclusive high end couture fabrics, you will form part of a passionate and creative production team immersed in an inspiring studio environment creating iconic pieces of couture for Australia’s longest standing couture design house.
You must have a minimum of 5 years experience in couture garment construction along with strong machine sewing skills and be proficient with industrial machine use.
Qualifications in garment construction, fashion, pattern making and especially cliental fittings / or other related certified training will give you an advantage.

Your couture gown will be delivered wrapped in acid free tissue paper. Gowns with embellishment will have a protective organza cover placed over the embellished area of the gown. Your gown will arrive carefully packed in to a keepsake heirloom box for safe keeping. This box will be packed inside a shipping box with a Suzanne Harward protective garment bag included in the delivery. To protect your exclusive Suzanne Harward gown we recommend you hang your garment within the protective bag provided.
Each Suzanne Harward gown is individually handcrafted with great care and uses delicate fabric, embroideries, embellishment and lace to convey the same timeless, feminine and ethereal nature that is the Suzanne Harward handwriting. This may lead to variation in finish, colour and fabrication. Please take the utmost care when cleaning and wearing your gown as jewellery, finger nails and harsh detergents can harm delicate fabrics and finishes. Embellishments and fabrics may change in colour with time and wear adding to the charm and individuality of each piece. These are not faults in the production of the garment and are consistent with handmade couture quality. Your gown will arrive protected in acid free tissue paper and an organza cover covering any embellishment. A protective garment bag is provided to ensure the gown remains in impeccable condition. Please hang your gown in the garment bag when you receive your delivery.
If you wish to clean your gown after your special day we recommend you take your gown to a reputable specialist drycleaners experienced in cleaning of delicate couture pieces.
