Names: Georgia Courtney and Adam Balestra
Wedding date: 15th of February 2020
Ceremony & Reception Venue: The Prince Deck (for both)
How we met and the marriage proposal: Adam and I met when I crashed a house party that he was at after the 2014 AFL Grand final. I didn't know anyone there but met him and that was it! Our proposal was done locally on our daily walk from Elwood to St Kilda.
About our wedding day: We got married on the roof of the Prince hotel in St Kilda in front of 120 of our friends and family. It was a rainy day, but it stopped raining for our ceremony. We did have to brave the elements for our photos on the beach though! Our reception was indoors at the same venue and the only word I can think to describe it was ‘electric’. We had to kick people off the dancefloor to do our first dance and everyone was back on before the end of the song. Although it went quickly, I feel we all danced for a very long time!
Our wedding style: Fun, colourful, vibrant, lots of florals. Really everything was designed and styled to look good with my dress!
Finding my wedding gown and couture experience at Suzanne Harward: Amazing! Suzanne Harward was the second place I visited, and I found my wedding gown straight away. I had my mum and my bridesmaids with me, and we all cried when I came out of the dressing room in the Splendid gown. I felt so comfortable straight away. The stylists were so great, they made me feel comfortable and helped me with everything from earrings to the veil.
First dance song: Innerbloom by RUFUS
Advice for future couples: Sounds so cliché but relax and have fun. Forget your expectations of how the day was supposed to go. It might not go to plan… For us it was raining all day and we had an outdoor ceremony! Adam also had a car crash in the morning (a small one but still stressful). In the end, all that matters are that both of you are there to celebrate with all the people you love the most in the world!
Honeymoon destination: We were going to Argentina, Chile, Mexico and Cuba but have had to postpone due to COVID-19. Maybe next year as we have lots of flight credits to use… there are margaritas and tacos at the end of the tunnel!
