Names: Sophie Walton and Charlie Coulton
Wedding date: Saturday, 14 March 2020
Ceremony & Reception Venue: Terrara House Estate
Wedding Gown: Luminous Gown
The marriage proposal: Charlie and I were in Noosa in November and although I had a hunch he might propose, when it didn’t happen on the first night of the holiday, I assumed I must have been wrong.
The following night I was totally unprepared and as we walked along the beach heading to dinner, he popped the question. I cried so much I think I forgot to say yes.
Just as we were about to walk to the restaurant a surfer came out of the water and we asked him to take a photo. I’m not sure how he did it, but the surfer captured the most amazing sunset picture of our engagement. It’s such a nice shot that we often get asked if Charlie had hired a photographer!
About our wedding day: Terrara House was our dream venue. The Estate is set on 17 acres and includes a spectacular Federation Filagree mansion, manicured gardens, and an incredible hedge maze.
As the property is so expansive, we were able to create distinct areas for the ceremony, cocktails and reception, and allow guests to stay in the one place which made the event much more relaxing for everyone.
Our ceremony was held in a hedge maze, carved in the shape of love hearts and framed with enormous hedge walls. It created the most intimate ceremony space.
Hosting our guests was of the utmost importance us, and we put an incredible amount of attention and detail into every element from the menu to the entertainment, transport and a midnight snack at the end of the night.
We wouldn’t have changed a thing, and it was honestly the best day of our lives.
Our wedding style: Elegant countryside
Finding my wedding gown and couture experience at Suzanne Harward: A friend of mine suggested I look at SH and when I went online that afternoon, I got the last appointment for their Sydney Trunk Show the following day. I had emailed ahead with two styles I was hoping to try on and when I arrived the couture stylist suggested a third dress, the Luminous Gown. The first two styles were great but when I came out in the Luminous Gown, I knew immediately it was the one for me. I know some girls spend months looking for their perfect wedding gown, but I didn’t need to look any further. SH was the only designer I tried on and I bought it on the spot.
First dance song: As, Stevie Wonder
